Sambalpur University launches Online Migration Certificate service

Sambalpur, Oct 28: The students studying in the colleges under the Sambalpur University need no longer run from pillar to post to get the migration certificate for admission in other universities and for other purposes. The University on Wednesday launched the Online Migration Certificate service, which will enable students to apply for the migration certificate sitting at homes.

The service for the students has been started under the Odisha Right to Public Service Act (ORTPSA). The Sambalpur University is the second educational institution in the state after the OUAT, Bhubaneswar to start the service under the Centre for Modernising Government Initiative (CGMI) of Government of Odisha.

Vice-Chancellor of the varsity, Prof Sanjiv Mittal said, the students of the affiliated colleges under the varsity seeking migration will not have to come here for the migration certificate. They will apply online and get the migration certificate, he said.

As many 222 colleges are there under the Sambalpur University in 10 districts of Western Odisha. Around 25,000 students pass out from the colleges of the University. Many students, who pass out from the university, take admission in other universities and seek the migration certificates. It will be easy for those students to get the migration now.

An official said, to apply for the migration online, one has to visit the website of Sambalpur University and click the “Apply for Migration’ menu, following which it will redirect to the ORTPSA migration. The student has to register by providing the mobile number and email-id on the page and after registration, the student will get an id and password in his mail-id. And by using the id and password, the student could apply for a migration certificate online. The student will also be given the option whether he wants the certificate by post or he wants to collect the certificate from the University personally.

Registrar of the varsity, Nruparaj Sahu said, the students will get some more services online as the varsity is now laying focus on more and more digitization.

Among others, PG Council Chairman, Sanjat Sahu, Controller of Examination, RK Panigrahi, Reader of the Department of Computer Science and Application, Chandra Sekhar Panda and other officials of the institution were present during the launching of the service.
