A very burning political debate was highlighted by the prominent journalist Rajat Sharma as demographic changes in India started revolutionizing discussions amongst its people. The Hindu population has reduced over 65 years by 7% while the Muslim population has increased by 44% and he asked if this narration was used to instill the fear of society.
Adityanath, chief minister, replied angrily stating some segments compare religion with country. “Anecdotes show that the protesters opposed a law made to protect religious minorities from Pak, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan in his Modi tenure”, he added.
“This proves they are putting religion before country. New India will not accept this,” came the comment from CM Yogi. The remark signifies a firmness from the government to hold the national unity intact while trying to take in the minority rights of our neighboring countries through the policy of CAA.
The controversy now brings to the fore yet another issue-the issue of religion and demographic change, and the future map of India that national policies will draw. Chief Minister Yogi dished out a remark that only strengthened his view regarding one India above everything else, with country identity before all.
