A disturbing incident came to the light in Jaipur involving a retired IAS officer, R.L. Meena (75), who was thrashed by a bus conductor while he was allegedly arguing over ₹10 fare and a missed bus stop. The controversy, which began on a low-floor bus on Friday, spread like wildfire and has been generating much attention because of a viral video of the incident.

The incident reportedly occurred around 11 AM when Meena boarded the bus to go to Kanota. According to the officer, the conductor refused to stop the bus at his intended destination. When Meena insisted, the situation escalated, and the conductor physically assaulted him with slaps and punches. Other passengers intervened to calm the situation and prevent further harm to Meena.

Meena filed a formal complaint at Kanota Police Station after the video went viral. Within hours, the Roadways Department suspended that conductor. The authorities are working on the case and there will be further updates on the matter as the inquiry continues.

This incident, however, became a hot trend on social media as people criticized the safety measures for elderly people in public and how they have been treated there. The viral video is really a grim reminder of the challenges older citizens face, and the time has come when there should be more stringent regulations to ensure them safety and dignity.
