Bhawanipatna, June 09: Vice-chancellor of Kalahandi University Prof Sanjay Kumar Satapathy said a recycled paper making machine will be installed in the university campus to meet the paper requirements of the university.
Speaking during a national webinar on ‘Academia – Industry collaboration for Innovation and Achievement’, which was organised by the Kalahandi University recently, he also stressed on making Bhawanipatna, a plastic free city and that plastic will be recycled for construction of roads.
Innovation Director, Ministry of Education, Government of India Dr Mohit Gambhir discussed the involvement of scholars and faculty in innovation and solving local problems. Educational institutions in collaboration with industry and government ministries can create scope for research in various unexplored areas. He also talked about the seed funding for research and promotion of start-up culture and innovation. Besides, he stressed on designing professional courses like MBA in innovation, entrepreneurship and intellectual property.
Regional Manager & Head, NRDC IPFC & TISC, Govt of India, Innovation Valley Dr Bijaya Sahu spoke on the best innovation practices in India and Kalahandi, intellectual property rights, copyrights and patents development besides role of educational institutions in innovation and intellectual property rights. He also proposed the vice-chancellor of the university to establish an incubation centre in the campus to encourage the students’ participation and involvement in innovation.
Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Anthropology and Convener of the webinar Dr Sili Rout focused on the importance of collaboration between industry and academia that is key to catalyse innovation and growth. The webinar culminated with the formal vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Haladhar Sahu, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Commerce and Co-convener.
More than 240 researchers, scholars, intellectuals, students, industrialists and IT professionals from different parts of the country participated in the webinar.
