In yet another high-stakes legal battle, the Yogi Adityanath government has told the Supreme Court that the well near the disputed Sambhal mosque is situated on public land. This statement comes amid a heated dispute over the revival of the so-called “mysterious wells”, which has sparked resistance from the mosque committee.
While the mosque committee is strongly opposing any move to revive these ancient wells, the Jama Masjid committee has sought permission from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for renovation and decoration of the mosque. However, in a twist of bureaucratic suspense, the ASI has yet to respond to their request.

With Yogi Adityanath in full action mode, the legal tug-of-war over heritage, faith, and land ownership continues to unfold. Whether these wells hold a hidden history or are just a new flashpoint in the ever-persistent land disputes remains to be seen. But one thing is certain—this case is far from over.
