Stuffed Simla Mirch Pakoda

Ingredients

  1. Simla Mirch (medium size) – 20 pieces 
  2. Boiled potato – 1 large 
  3. Onion (finely chopped) – 1 medium 
  4. Coriander leaves (finely chopped) – 2 tbsp 
  5. Ginger-garlic paste – ¼ tsp  
  6. Garam masala powder – ½ tsp 
  7. Green chilli (fine chopped)- ½ tsp 
  8. Red chilli powder – ½ tsp 
  9. Maize flour – 180 gm 
  10. Gram flour (besan) – 20 gm 
  11. Turmeric powder – 1 pinch 
  12. Salt – as per taste 
  13. Oil – as required 

Preparation Method

  • Wash the simla mirch  thoroughly and make a slit on one side. Carefully remove the seeds while keeping the mirch  intact. 
  • Mash the boiled potato in a bowl. Add chopped onion, coriander leaves, garam masala powder, green chilli  and salt. Mix well to prepare the stuffing. 
  • Fill each mirch with the prepared potato mixture and keep aside. 
  • In another bowl, combine maize flour, gram flour, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, and salt. Add water gradually and prepare a smooth batter of medium consistency. 
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan/ kadhai . 
  • Dip each stuffed simla mirch into the batter, ensuring it is evenly coated. 
  • Carefully place the coated simla mirch into the hot oil and fry on medium heat until golden brown and crisp. 
  • Remove and drain excess oil on absorbent paper and serve  hot with green chutney or tomato ketchup
