The Spiritual Side of the Moon

According to Science, the Moon is the only Satellite of Earth. it rotates around the earth. The Moon is the brightest celestial body seen in the Night Sky. All over the world, the moon is revered as a God. Apart from its scientific nature, the moon has a spiritual side which Scientists ignore. The moon has an effect on the tides of the sea. The moon affects the mind of man.

The spiritual meaning of the moon symbolizes initiation, reflection, feminine energy and emotional mind. Moon phases are believed to have an impact on our emotions energy levels and spiritual practices. Although the moon only reflects the light of the Sun, its energy affects the water and the mind. When someone goes crazy they are called lunatics. The word Lunatics is derived from the word – Lunar which means moon . Madness is connected with the moon. The Lunatic, the lover, and the poet – all are mad persons. When the full moon approaches madness increases. That is why, Shakespeare has said in his play Othello – O moon, you comest near the earth and makest me mad. Moreover, a French Sociologist has defined society like this –

“A human Society is like a high voltage Electromagnetic field and there are tension areas where there are eccentrics Lunatics and genius.”

Ancient people did an in-depth study about how the moon affects the mind, now the moon is moving around in different constellations. The moon is in one constellation for two and a half days. Then it moves to the other constellation. So in two and half days, there are changes in the mood of the mind.

The moon is associated with creation, life, emotions, mood, and mind. Also is connected with romance, pleasant nights, intense moments, loneliness, and mood Swings. The moon represents mental and emotional power. During a full moon, it is believed that the moon spreads its positive energy on Earth. It ensures good health prosperity and longevity. moon has a special Significance among Humans. The crescent moon always shines on Lord Shiva’s forehead.

Moon has a connection with medicine also. The Sanskrit poet Kalidas Said in his play Abhijnana Shakuntalam that the moon is the master of medicines (Ousadhinam patih) During lunar eclipses, people search for herbal roots for medicinal purposes. This is indigenous medicine. In Ayurvedic medicine, moonlight is believed to help heal and soothe the body. The moon gently energies, in contrast with Sun sharp brightness a moonlight exposure is thought to also relieve anxiety and stress and improve relaxation by prompting the nature release of melatonin.
