International Museum Day observed at the State Tribal Museum

International Museum Day was celebrated at the Odisha State Tribal Museum. With this, the 15-day Summer Soura Art (Idital) Camp, which started on May 4, was wrapped up. Summer Soura Art (Idital) Camp for school students was organized at the Odisha State Tribal Museum, situated on the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI) campus. The celebration of this International Day was illuminated by the presence of Prof.Savita Acharya, Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University, Mrs. Ruparoshan Sahu, Commissioner of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development, Minorities & Department of Backward Classes Welfare and Administrative Secretary, Mr. Indramani Tripathy, Director of SCSTRTI and Mr. Santosh Kumar Ratha, Assistant Director.

Prof. Savita Acharya, as the Chief Guest in the program informed the students about various museums and the National Education Policy 2020. She also informed that in future, pupils will be able to succeed in their workplaces with the help of this education system. Divisional Commissioner and Administrative Secretary Mrs. Ruparoshan Sahu expressed her opinions about the Tribe’s excellence in the field of Art and how to sensitize the students to convey its excellence to the masses, especially to the future generations using this platform. SCSTRTI Director Mr. Tripathy gave his views on the importance of International Museum Day along with the theme this year i.e. ‘Museum for Education and Research’.

Students participating in the program shared theirexperiences and expressed their happiness in getting lots of important information about tribal culture. 33 students from almost 14 schools in Bhubaneswar had participated. Mr. Chandrasekhar Sethi, Senior Lecturer, B. K. College of Arts, Saura artist Mr. Junes Gamang and Mr. Rabinath Shabar enlightened students about Idital. On this occasion, all the participants were given certificates of participation, while 6 selected winners of the painting quiz competition, were felicitated.

In today’s program, while Vote of Thanks was presented by the Director of the Museum Dr. Sanghamitra Sethi, other staff members of SCSTRTI were also present.
